After a break of nearly 20 years the Mini Cooper made a welcome return. 1000 cars were built and launched as a limited edition in July 1990, sales soared and the Cooper quickly became part of the range. More limited editions were launched ΓÇö Mini Racing Green, Flame Red, Check Mate and Studio 2.
In 1991 the Mini Cooper 1.3i was introduced with single-point fuel injection, new front spot lamps and bonnet stripes. Mini went topless with the launch of the stunning Mini Cabriolet and got a funky make over with the addition of the Mini Neon.
The Mini British Open Classic became complete with a full length, sliding roof in 1992 to make the most of the summer. In October 1992 the Mini Italian Job Special Edition was launched.
Extrovert limited editions, Mini Rio and Mini Tahiti hit the streets in 1993 with a riot of colour, while grunge took Britain by storm.
